Magdalena Ribas Wannieck was born in Madrid into a Spanish-German family that has had music as a faithful life companion and source of inspiration. Her pianism is characterized by a special lyricism, her simplicity and honesty of speech and depth of understanding music.
She studied piano, violin and organ at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid, where she graduated brilliantly from piano studies with the prestigious professor Joaquín Soriano.
As winner of 4 scholarships for improvement studies abroad (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany, Juventudes Musicales of Spain and of the Community of Madrid) she continued her musical studies at the Universities of Music Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw (Poland) with professor Jan Ekier, Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria) with professor Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and at the Conservatoire Supérieur CNR of Paris (France) with professor Olivier Gardon. Later she has successfully completed the Master's degree in Solo Performance at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska (Madrid, Spain) with the pianist Laia Masramón, one of the most acclaimed pianists and fortepianists of the moment.
Magdalena has been awarded a 1st regional prize of the “Jugend Musiziert” Competition (Germany), the 1st prize of the “Música en Compostela” contest for the best performance of Spanish music, 2nd prize of the “Delia Steinberg” Competition (Madrid), the prize from the “Académie d'Etê de Pontarlier” to perform with the orchestra, a 2nd prize in the “El Ferrol” Piano Competition (Spain) and a 1st prize Radio France d'Orléans from l'Académie d'Etê d'Amilly (France).
As a soloist, she has performed with several regional orchestras and she has given numerous piano and chamber music recitals in leading Spanish and international halls such as the Teatro Real de Madrid, the Ateneo of Madrid and of Barcelona, the Foundation Juan March in Madrid, the Teatro Municipal of Santiago de Chile, the University of Music and the Chopin Society of Warsaw, the Mozarteum (Salzburg), the Musikhochschule of Hannover, the Internationaler Konzertverein Bodensee in Lindau (Germany), the Mysliwski Radziwillow Palace (Poland), the Maison Le Corbusier (Paris).
Among the centers, in which Magdalena has worked as a piano teacher and repertoire pianist are the Adolfo Salazar Professional Conservatory, the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid and the National Opera of Chile.
